5 Fights Which Must Be Made In 2016

5. Anyone of these 4 fighters at Welterweight (Bradley, Thurman, Porter, Garcia)

Put any of these fighters in the ring together and you are set for an epic clash. Barring Bradley, all the other welterweights are still on the rise and all the fighters are in their prime. In recent years there has been a tendency for promoters not to risk their best fighters against each other which is why Porter vs. Thurman is unlikely to happen this year due to them both being represented by Al Haymon - however both fighters want it so who knows.

4. Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder

Providing Fury comes through his rematch against Wladimir Klitschko, which I believe he will (even though it will be a lot tougher than the first fight), Fury's next opponent should be a unification bout with Wilder. Both unbeaten and both still on the up in their careers this fight will have huge connotations for the heavyweight division, in the public domain it is seen as a 50/50 fight and it will also generate huge appeal in both the US and the UK.

Outcome: Tyson Fury

3. Saul Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin

Middleweight tear up in the making next year. Triple G has sent shockwaves through the middleweight division and seems to be crying out for opponents year in year out. Canelo's stock has risen hugely after beating Miguel Cotto this year however Triple G is a completely different story. Robert Garcia has recently stated that the two do not need to fight this year but seeing as there is no one else of real note in the division at the moment (barring Billy Joe Saunders) this fight seems in the making.

Outcome: Triple G

2. Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev

Having fought only once in the last 3 years, 2016 is a huge year for Andre Ward. Predicted in 2012 to be the successor to Floyd Mayweather as Pound 4 Pound King, Ward's recent career has been blighted by injury and law suits. Having now signed for Jay Z's Roc Nation and moved up to Light Heavyweight the obvious fight is against knock out artist Sergey Kovalev, a man unbeaten on 28-0-1 and the holder of the IBF, WBO and WBA belts. This match up will show whether Ward can mix it at Light Heavyweight, which he should do comfortably, and also show who the dominant force is in the division.

Outcome: Andre Ward

1. Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan

Without a doubt the biggest fight in 2016, especially in the UK. Eddie Hearn has recently claimed that the date has been set to June 4th at Wembley Stadium however negotiations are still ongoing. If this fight does not get made it is absolutely criminal. There is no better time for these two to fight. Kell Brook certainly wants the fight but one cannot be too certain with Khan. Brook still has a lot to prove at the world class level as he has arguably only beaten one at world level, Shawn Porter, so this fight is a perfect chance for him to improve his stock.

Outcome: Kell Brook
